Our Communities

As a dedicated member of the communities we call home, we work hard to earn the trust of our neighbors.

Our involvement goes well beyond job creation, economic investment, and providing clean, renewable energy. We strive to build lasting partnerships with civic leaders and property owners. Throughout the life of every project, we pride ourselves on being fully transparent in our communication and highly responsive to public feedback.

But most importantly, we believe being involved means giving back. We get to know our neighbors and love supporting the local causes they are passionate about. Whether through employee volunteer opportunities or corporate-level sponsorships, we are always looking for positive ways to stay actively engaged with our communities.

Pawnee high school heritage trip

As owner and operator of Cedar Creek Wind Energy in Grover, Colorado, LRE was presented the opportunity to help students at nearby Pawnee High School embark on the experience of a lifetime.

I would like to say thank you to the LRE for helping my school group and I go on this trip and getting to gain such an incredible new experience.

GR

Every three years, honor students from this rural farming community are selected to participate in the American Heritage Tour. This 10-day trip is a whirlwind journey to important historical sites in Washington D.C., New York City and Boston, and for these students — many of whom had never even flown on an airplane before — it’s a life-changing experience.

It’s also rather expensive, so LRE proposed a plan to the Pawnee School Board to provide financial assistance for the seven students selected for the 2018 trip.

The Heritage Trip was an all-around amazing experience. Coming from a small town and a small farm and going to the big city was a huge difference.

RM

Each student had their trip down payment paid and was given $250 in seed money for fundraising efforts. Once the students had raised as much as they could, LRE covered the difference, ultimately donating nearly two-thirds of the total cost.

The tour group were able to gain a greater perspective of what it means to be an American, visiting Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian, the US Holocaust Museum, Mount Vernon, 9/11 Memorial Museum, the Statue of Liberty and the Boston Freedom Trail among many others. Afterward, the energized students captured their experiences and new appreciation for history in essays to complete the sponsorship.

Standing next to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial placed a sense of pride for my country in me and I feel more respect for the United States and the great people that helped create it.
